Kindness Takes You Further

Telling someone off and revealing your immediate and growing frustration is a lot simpler than, being patient and kind with someone who seems to be testing your complete existence.

I recently needed maintenance in my house for some repairs. The guys came out a week after I submitted it, and when they did come, they came and looked at it and stated they would come back later to finish; it’s just that…they never did come back to finish. In fact, I got an email stating that the maintenance request was closed (as one would do if the request was successfully completed) the day they said they would come back later.

I found this to be frustrating and a slap in the face, so I started to draft an email to someone higher up about the on-going situation (in a professional manner of course, but still making my frustration known), but half-way through the email draft, I stopped myself. I did not want this situation to karmically affect me in any negative manner, so I decided to make a new decision and give the repair guys one more shot. I submitted another request — this time with more detail. The next morning they came out immediately, and made the repair accordingly.

I’m glad I gave them another shot.

Kindness always takes you further.
